Nest Hong Kong in Singapore: There are always heated debates between who is better: Hong Kong or Singapore? We think that both cities are at their best when they work together. This week a number of members from the Hong Kong Nest team -Lawrence Morgan (CEO), Karen Arndt (COO) and Jess Cheung (Global Brand Strategy)- flew over to meet with the cohort as well as collaborate with the Singapore Team.
Lawrence gave a speaker session on business strategy, during which he shared a motivational Ted talk from Simon Sinek about how great leaders inspire action. Simon’s core belief: to start with the question “why?”
He also challenged the founders with his favorite brain teaser to emphasize the importance of lateral thinking. If you are up for testing out you ability to think outside the box, try it out yourself here.
First Clinic Held by Konica Minolta: The clinic is a series of workshops that address a very specific topic in HealthCare by engaging a expert in the field. The inaugural session was about “Business model innovation for healthcare & grants in Singapore.” and was run by Dr Loke Wai Chiong, one of the accelerator programme’s mentors. Dr. Chiong has a diverse background in the Healthcare world, ranging from being a licensed physician, to HR, consulting, assisting Government organizations, to his current position as Project Director of his own startup Sheares Healthcare management.

The startups fight it out: The startup founders got a rare chance to blow off some steam at a Muay Thai lesson. It definitely takes a great deal of fighting spirit to make it as an entrepreneur, and after seeing them throw some real punches, we think they have what it takes!
